Bhubaneswar Court Bomb Threat Email Found to Be Hoax After Police Search

A bomb threat email sent to a court in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday triggered a swift security response, with the Odisha Police launching a comprehensive search operation at the court premises. Authorities later confirmed that the threat was a hoax , with no suspicious or explosive material found.

According to police, the court received an email in which the sender threatened to detonate bombs inside the premises. Court authorities immediately alerted the police, prompting personnel from the bomb disposal squad to reach the site and sanitize the entire building in accordance with standard operating procedures.

Speaking after the operation, Bhubaneswar ACP (Zone-4) Abhimanyu Nayak said the search was completed without detecting any objectionable substance, confirming that the email threat was false.

The incident is part of a series of similar hoax bomb threat emails received in recent weeks across Odisha. Police said district courts in Cuttack, Puri, Phulbani, Deogarh and Sambalpur , along with the airport and passport office, had earlier received threatening emails. Security checks conducted at those locations also found no explosives or suspicious objects.

Authorities have launched an investigation to trace the source of the latest email and identify those responsible. Officials reiterated that every threat is treated with utmost seriousness, with security agencies following established protocols to ensure public safety before declaring any alert a hoax.
