‘Birbal Trilogy Case II’ Posters Hint At A More Personal Mystery For Mahesh Das

T ‘Birbal Trilogy Case II’ is generating fresh curiosity in Kannada cinema with KVN Productions unveiling new posters for the crime thriller sequel, featuring M.G. Srinivas once again as lawyer Mahesh Das.

The sequel expands the world established by the 2019 original, ‘Birbal Trilogy Case 1: Finding Vajramuni’, which followed Mahesh Das as he investigated a complicated murder mystery. Interestingly, the character’s name also has a historical connection. Birbal, the celebrated figure from the Akbar Birbal stories, was traditionally known as Mahesh Das before receiving the title Birbal. The name Mahesh Das in the film franchise is therefore a deliberate nod to that legendary character.

Srinivas, who also directs the sequel, has indicated that the new case takes Mahesh into more personal territory, adding an emotional dimension to the investigation. The first film stood out for its unconventional Rashomon style narrative, using multiple perspectives to gradually reveal the truth behind the murder.

The sequel features a fresh ensemble alongside Srinivas. Khushbu Sundar, Daisy Bopanna and Yogalakshmi are among the prominent additions. Khushbu’s return to Kannada cinema has generated interest, while Yogalakshmi, known for ‘Tourist Family’, is making her Kannada debut with the project.

Production began in July 2025, and reports from October indicated that post production was underway while the team completed some final scenes. The sequel is being positioned as a larger expansion of the Birbal universe, rather than merely another standalone investigation.

Mahesh Das also appeared in the wider universe through Ghost, further connecting Srinivas’ projects. With the latest posters offering a glimpse into the sequel’s mood, ‘Birbal Trilogy Case II’ has audiences waiting for more details about its story and theatrical release.
