BJP Aims To Establish ‘Double-Engine Government’ in Telangana, Says National President Nitin Nabin

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president Nitin Nabin on Sunday said that despite Telangana completing 12 years as a separate state, the aspirations and goals that inspired the statehood movement have not been fully realised. He asserted that a BJP-led “double-engine government” in Telangana is essential to fulfil the dreams of the people and accelerate the state's development.

Nabin made the remarks while virtually inaugurating nine newly established BJP district offices across Telangana during his three-day visit to the state. Addressing party workers and leaders, he urged them to work in a coordinated manner to strengthen the organisation and expand the party's footprint across all regions.

Describing the upcoming elections to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and other urban local bodies as a significant challenge, Nabin said the polls would provide an opportunity for BJP workers to demonstrate the party's growing influence. He emphasised that the Central government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been implementing several welfare and development initiatives for the people of Telangana, but argued that the state would witness faster progress if the BJP were also in power locally.

According to Nabin, achieving the vision of a “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India) requires stronger support for the BJP across states, including Telangana. He called upon party workers to intensify their efforts to ensure that the BJP emerges as a viable alternative to the existing political establishment.

Rejecting criticism that the BJP is an outsider in Telangana politics, Nabin recalled that one of the party's two Lok Sabha victories in the 1984 general elections came from Hanamkonda. He said this reflected the BJP's long-standing association with the region and demonstrated that Telangana has played an important role in the party's history.

The BJP chief also targeted both the Congress government and the previous BRS administration. He claimed that BJP workers had consistently fought against what he described as anti-people policies of the former BRS government, but that Congress ultimately benefited politically from those struggles. Accusing Congress of compromising public interests, he said the BJP alone possesses the organisational strength needed to challenge the ruling party effectively.

Pointing to the BJP's growth in states such as West Bengal, Nabin expressed confidence that the party could replicate similar success in Telangana. He also praised BJP national general secretary Sunil Bansal , urging party leaders to work with renewed energy to bring the BJP to power in the state.

Recalling Telangana Formation Day celebrations held in New Delhi earlier this month, Nabin paid tribute to late BJP leader Sushma Swaraj for her contribution to the passage of the Telangana statehood legislation in Parliament. He said the party continues to draw inspiration from leaders such as Syama Prasad Mookerjee, Deendayal Upadhyaya and former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee , while pursuing national development under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
