BJP Campaign Continues with Ghaziabad March Led by CM Yogi Adityanath Today
The BJP's 'Loktantra Bachao, Arajakta Hatao' (Save Democracy, Remove Anarchy) campaign is set to continue in Uttar Pradesh on Thursday, with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath scheduled to lead a march in Ghaziabad. The political mobilisation drive, launched to counter Opposition allegations of electoral irregularities and attempts to undermine democratic institutions, has witnessed the participation of several senior BJP leaders across different states.
The Ghaziabad march is expected to bring together BJP leaders and workers from around 25 districts of western Uttar Pradesh. The programme is scheduled to begin at Srishti Gol Chakkar in Raj Nagar Extension, marking a major event in the party's statewide campaign.
The campaign began on November 3, with Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan leading a march in Lucknow and Union Health Minister J P Nadda participating in the Bareilly programme. On November 4, BJP national president Nitin Nabin led the Gorakhpur march, while Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak participated in programmes in Prayagraj and Kanpur, respectively.
Following the Gorakhpur march, Nabin is scheduled to visit the Baba Gorakhnath Temple on Thursday morning and offer prayers. He will subsequently meet former party office-bearers, including former district presidents, regional leaders and former public representatives. Discussions with current state office-bearers will focus on the roadmap for upcoming party campaigns and electoral strategy.
The BJP's mobilisation drive also included demonstrations outside Uttar Pradesh. In Madhya Pradesh, Nadda participated in the Bhopal march on November 4, which began at Atal Path and concluded at Roshanpura Square. In Delhi, Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Union Minister of State Harsh Malhotra were scheduled to participate in a march in East Delhi.
Meanwhile, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) organised a student rally at the University of Delhi under the same campaign. The organisation expected more than 15,000 students to participate in the demonstration, which was planned from the university's Rugby Ground towards Kranti Chowk.
The campaign comes amid an intensifying political confrontation between the BJP and Opposition parties over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and allegations of electoral irregularities. The BJP has maintained that the revision exercise is intended to remove the names of deceased, shifted, absent and duplicate voters, while Opposition parties have questioned the process and raised concerns about the functioning of the Election Commission.
The INDIA bloc recently held a rally at Delhi's Ramlila Maidan, accusing the BJP of benefiting from alleged electoral manipulation. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and other Opposition leaders raised the 'vote chori' allegations and demanded accountability from the Election Commission.
