Tamil Nadu BJP president Nainar Nagenthran on Monday dismissed speculation about a possible electoral alliance with Vijay-led Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), asserting that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the state would continue under the leadership of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK).

Calling such reports a “rumour,” Nagenthran said there had been no discussions with TVK regarding an electoral pact for the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. He emphasised that the alliance structure within the NDA remains unchanged.

“T here is no change in the NDA under the leadership of Edappadi K. Palaniswami . He is the chief ministerial candidate . We are confident of winning more than 200 seats in the upcoming election,” Nagenthran told reporters.

He also clarified that the BJP has not sought any share in power with the AIADMK if the alliance forms the government. According to him, the party remains committed to the existing alliance arrangement and will begin seat-sharing discussions with its partners soon.

Meanwhile, sources in TVK chief said the party has no plans to enter into an alliance with the BJP-led NDA, reiterating that there have been no discussions with the BJP regarding any electoral pact.

Nagenthran, however, reiterated that there was no move from the BJP’s side to bring TVK into the NDA fold.

The remarks come amid growing political speculation over possible alliances ahead of the next Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu.
