BJP Hits Back at Rahul Gandhi Over Student Protest Claims, Calls Allegations “False”

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday strongly rejected Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s allegations that police fired bullets at students during a recent march to Parliament following directions from Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The ruling party termed the claims “false” and accused Gandhi of attempting to create confusion and provoke unrest for political gains.

Addressing a press conference at the BJP headquarters, party spokesperson Sambit Patra dismissed Gandhi’s remarks as a “bundle of lies” and said no firing incident had taken place during the student protest. He questioned how the Home Minister could have ordered firing when, according to the BJP, no bullets were fired by the police.

“Rahul Gandhi said bullets were fired at students and that Amit Shah ordered it. Both claims are false,” Patra said, demanding that the Congress leader apologise for making what the BJP described as baseless allegations inside Parliament.

The BJP’s response came after Gandhi raised the issue during a Lok Sabha debate on a bill related to preventing paper leaks, alleging that police action against student protesters had been authorised by the Home Minister. His remarks triggered a heated exchange in the House, with BJP members objecting to the allegations.

Patra also criticised Gandhi’s remarks that Shah travels in a convoy of around 30 vehicles due to fear. Rejecting the claim, the BJP leader challenged Gandhi to provide evidence of such a convoy and said even the Prime Minister’s security convoy may not have such a large number of vehicles.

Responding to Gandhi’s comment that Shah “trembles in fear,” Patra defended the Home Minister, saying Shah is a leader who makes terrorists and Naxalites fear rather than someone who is afraid.

The BJP further alleged that Gandhi and the Congress were using misinformation as a political strategy, claiming they were unable to regain power through elections. The controversy has added to the growing political confrontation between the ruling party and the opposition over law enforcement actions and parliamentary debates.
