BJP Lists Six Failures of Telangana Congress Government in Letter to CM Revanth Reddy
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has sharpened its criticism of the Congress government in Telangana , with state president N. Ramchander Rao sending an open letter to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy highlighting what he described as six major governance lapses affecting farmers, youth, pensioners and public services. The letter comes months after the Congress assumed power in the state, a period during which the government has been under increasing pressure from opposition parties over the implementation of its election promises.
At the top of the list, Ramchander Rao pointed to the agriculture sector , accusing the government of failing to deliver on its promise of ₹15,000 financial support under the Rythu Bharosa scheme . According to him, farmers across Telangana are struggling with crop losses, lack of irrigation and rising debts , while promised assistance has yet to reach many beneficiaries. The BJP leader argued that the continued uncertainty over agricultural support is worsening rural distress.
The letter also highlights concerns surrounding unemployment and recruitment , with the BJP accusing the government of not moving forward on its promise to fill two lakh government vacancies . Ramchander Rao said the absence of a clear job calendar has created frustration among job-seeking youth preparing for government examinations. He further noted that pending fee reimbursement dues have been troubling students and educational institutions, while teachers are worried about potential policy changes linked to a proposed education commission .
Another key concern raised in the letter relates to retired government employees . Ramchander Rao stated that thousands of pensioners are waiting for their retirement benefits and arrears , with dues reportedly running into about ₹12,000 crore . Many retirees, he said, are facing financial difficulties as they await payments for services rendered during decades in government employment.
The BJP also questioned the slow progress in implementing enhanced social security pensions , reminding the government of its election promise to raise old-age pensions to ₹4,000 and disability pensions to ₹6,000 . Ramchander Rao alleged that not only have these increases not materialised, but even the current pensions are not reaching beneficiaries on time in several areas .
Turning to public services, the BJP leader criticised the condition of government hospitals , saying the public healthcare system requires urgent attention. Referring to a disturbing incident reported at Jadcherla government hospital , where stray dogs allegedly damaged a body kept in the mortuary, he said the episode underscores serious gaps in hospital management and maintenance.
Municipal governance also came under fire in the letter. Ramchander Rao alleged that sanitation standards in several towns and cities have deteriorated , resulting in increased stray dog and monkey attacks and growing concerns about the spread of infectious diseases . Since the municipal administration is overseen by the Chief Minister, he argued that immediate corrective measures are necessary.
The BJP leader also criticised BRS chief and former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao , claiming that the principal opposition in the Assembly has not effectively raised public concerns. He asserted that the BJP would continue to take up people’s issues across Telangana , urging the government to step beyond administrative offices and examine the situation on the ground before addressing the problems faced by citizens.
