BJP MLA KVR Launches Indefinite Fast Demanding Clearance of Retired Employees’ Dues

Demanding the immediate release of pending dues to retired government employees and teachers in Telangana, Kamareddy MLA Katipally Venkata Ramana Reddy (KVR) launched an indefinite hunger strike at Dharna Chowk near Indira Park. BJP Legislature Party leader Aleti Maheshwar Reddy extended his support by participating in the protest on Monday and sharply criticised the Congress government.

Speaking on the occasion, he demanded that the government immediately release all pending payments due to retired employees and teachers in the state. He also urged that dues related to unemployed youth be cleared without further delay and advised the Congress government to honour the promises made to the public during the elections.

Aleti Maheshwar Reddy criticised Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s visit to the state, alleging that the purpose of the visit was not to ensure justice for Telangana or to fulfil electoral promises, but to divert Telangana’s funds for elections in other states. He claimed that substantial funds meant for the state’s development and welfare programmes were being misused.

Responding to international developments, he expressed his views on rallies being held in the country following the death of the President of Iran. While stating that public protests on domestic issues are natural, he said organising rallies over the death of a foreign leader was not appropriate. He added that under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, Muslims in the country are living safely and benefiting from various welfare schemes.

BJP Telangana State President N. Ramachander Rao strongly criticised what he described as the Congress government’s rigid stance on the payment of pensions and pending dues to retired government employees. Participating in the protest, he made serious allegations against the government.

He questioned how the government, which claims it lacks funds to pay salaries to employees and retirement benefits to pensioners, could allocate Rs. 1000 crore to the National Herald newspaper. He asked whether a party newspaper was more important than the state’s poor and employees.

He termed the delay in clearing pensions and other dues to retired employees as deliberate and unjust. Citing reports that more than 66 pensioners had allegedly died by suicide due to financial distress and mental agony, he described the situation as not merely an administrative failure but a humanitarian crisis. He criticised the government led by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, alleging that instead of serving the people, it had become a regime that demolishes houses. He accused the government of demolishing homes of poor and middle-class families from Musi to Khammam.

Reacting to Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Telangana, he questioned whether the promises made in the Chevella, Kamareddy and Warangal declarations during the elections had been implemented. He sought answers on whether justice had been delivered to SCs, BCs and farmers. He assured that retired employees should pursue their struggle through lawful means and said the BJP would always stand by them in safeguarding their rights.
