BJP National President Nitin Nabin To Visit Telangana For Three-Day Organisational Tour
BJP National President Nitin Nabin will undertake a three-day visit to Telangana from June 28, during which he is scheduled to interact with students, tribal communities, party leaders, elected representatives and grassroots workers as part of the party's ongoing organisational outreach in the state.
Announcing the visit on Friday, BJP Telangana President Ramchander Rao said the tour reflects the national leadership's growing focus on Telangana and its determination to strengthen the party's position in the state.
According to the schedule, Nabin will begin his visit on June 28 by inaugurating the newly constructed BJP district office in Ranga Reddy district at Shamshabad. He will also virtually inaugurate party offices in ten other districts from the same venue. Later in the day, he will address a convention of booth presidents representing three municipal corporations under the Greater Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Malkajgiri regions at Nampally Exhibition Grounds.
The BJP chief will also hold meetings with the party's Members of Parliament and MLAs during his stay.
On June 29, Nabin will participate in an interaction programme with engineering and higher education students in Hyderabad before travelling to Warangal, where he is expected to meet tribal communities and local party functionaries. His visit will conclude on June 30 with a key meeting of state BJP office-bearers, after which he will return to New Delhi.
Ramchander Rao said the visit is expected to energise party cadres ahead of future political challenges. He noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Telangana in May, while Defence Minister Rajnath Singh toured the state earlier this month, highlighting the continued engagement of senior BJP leaders with Telangana.
Addressing recent remarks by AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi on passports and citizenship, Ramchander Rao accused opposition parties of spreading misinformation regarding the ongoing voter list revision exercise.
He argued that a passport is primarily a travel document and not conclusive proof of citizenship, citing a 2013 Bombay High Court ruling. Rao also referred to Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama , who holds an identity certificate issued by India but is not an Indian citizen, to support his argument.
The BJP leader maintained that there has been no change in the Centre's position on the issue during the past 12 years and alleged that the Congress and AIMIM were attempting to create unnecessary confusion, similar to what occurred during debates surrounding the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).
Rao further clarified that passports remain among the accepted documents for identity verification in the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and said the Election Commission has not rejected passports as a valid form of identification. He accused Congress and AIMIM of conducting a misleading campaign by claiming that the BJP intends to revoke people's citizenship.
