BJP Revamps UP Unit Ahead of 2027 Polls, New Faces Rise in Organisational Shake-Up
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced a major organisational overhaul in Uttar Pradesh, replacing all six regional presidents and inducting several new faces into key positions as the party prepares its groundwork for the 2027 Assembly elections .
The reshuffle, announced by state BJP president Pankaj Chaudhary , includes the appointment of 19 vice presidents, eight general secretaries and 19 state ministers as office bearers . The changes followed multiple rounds of consultations involving Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath , senior state leaders and the party’s central leadership.
Among the notable new entrants are former minister Suresh Rana , along with leaders such as Satyapal Saini, Priyanka Rawat, Archana Mishra, Pooja Pal, Suresh Maurya and Rajesh Yadav , who have been appointed as state vice presidents. The appointment of younger leaders and representatives from different social groups signals the party’s effort to expand its organisational reach across communities.
The BJP has also brought in a new set of regional presidents. Nawab Singh Nagar will lead western Uttar Pradesh, Puran Lal Lodhi will head Braj, Ram Kishore Sahu will oversee Kanpur, Avadhesh Dwivedi will take charge of Awadh, Ashok Chaurasia will manage Kashi and Vinod Rai will lead the Gorakhpur region.
The party retained Manish Dixit as state media coordinator for a fourth consecutive term, while appointing Dinesh Pratap Singh as chief spokesperson and Himanshu Raj Pandit as state social media coordinator.
Political observers view the elevation of several emerging leaders as part of the BJP’s long-term leadership pipeline. Some of these faces, with their organisational experience and regional influence, could gain larger responsibilities in the future. Given the party’s practice of promoting successful state-level organisers, it would not be surprising if some of the newly elevated leaders eventually find roles at the national level .
The reshuffle comes as the BJP seeks to strengthen its booth-level network and social outreach while responding to the opposition’s focus on the PDA (Pichhda, Dalit and Alpsankhyak) coalition ahead of the crucial 2027 Uttar Pradesh polls.
