The process of bringing home the victims of the deadly factory explosion in Qatar's Ras Laffan Industrial City has begun, with the mortal remains of four Indian nationals repatriated on Thursday. The Indian Embassy in Doha confirmed the development, adding that efforts are underway to return the bodies of the remaining victims at the earliest.

The tragic explosion, which occurred on Sunday at the Barzan local gas supply facility operated by QatarEnergy LNG , claimed the lives of 13 people , including 12 Indian nationals and one Pakistani citizen . The incident also left 66 people injured , making it one of the most severe industrial accidents involving foreign workers in Qatar in recent years.

In a statement shared on social media, the Indian Embassy in Doha said the repatriation of four victims had been completed and assured that the remaining mortal remains would also be sent to India soon. The embassy noted that it has remained in constant contact with the bereaved families, keeping them informed about the ongoing arrangements in coordination with the local authorities.

The mission also expressed gratitude to the Qatari authorities and various Indian community organisations for extending timely support during the difficult period. According to the embassy, assistance has not been limited to the deceased victims' families alone, as officials have also been in touch with Indians who sustained injuries in the explosion to ensure they receive the necessary help.

The blast injured workers from several countries, including India, Qatar, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Kenya, Ghana, Tanzania, Nigeria, and Nepal , highlighting the multinational workforce employed at the industrial facility.

While the exact cause of the explosion is yet to be officially disclosed, authorities continue to coordinate relief measures and support for those affected. The focus now remains on completing the repatriation of the remaining victims and providing assistance to the injured and their families during this difficult time.

The tragedy has deeply impacted the Indian community in Qatar and the families waiting back home, with authorities on both sides working together to ensure a dignified return of those who lost their lives.
