Bomb Threat Emails Target Gujarat And Maharashtra CMO, RSS Offices And Civic Bodies Security Alerts Issued
A series of bomb threat emails targeting government and civic institutions across Gujarat and Maharashtra triggered large-scale security operations and evacuations on Wednesday, with authorities confirming that no explosives have been found so far.
In Gujarat, an email reportedly sent in the name of the “Khalistan National Army” threatened to carry out explosions at multiple high-security locations, including the Gujarat Chief Minister’s Office in Gandhinagar , the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) headquarters , and an RSS office in the city’s Maninagar area.
According to officials, the email claimed that blasts would occur at specific timings, including 1.11 pm at the CMO, 3.11 pm at AMC headquarters, and 5.11 pm at the RSS office . Following the alert, the AMC headquarters at Danapith was evacuated and security was intensified at sensitive government installations across Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar.
Police, along with Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) and fire brigade teams, carried out extensive search operations at all threatened locations. Senior police officials said preliminary investigation suggests that the email was routed through a VPN and internet traffic was traced to the United States, indicating efforts to conceal the origin. Authorities have confirmed that no suspicious objects were found.
Gujarat Chief Secretary M K Das said the threat email was being treated seriously and that necessary precautions had been taken, while police officials stated that investigations are ongoing to identify the sender.
A similar wave of threat emails was reported in Maharashtra, where civic bodies and key government offices received coordinated warnings of bomb blasts. In Nagpur, an email received by civic authorities claimed an explosive device had been planted at the RSS headquarters at Dr Hedgewar Smruti Bhavan in Reshimbagh . A BDDS team was immediately deployed, but no explosives were discovered after a thorough search.
In Mumbai, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) received multiple emails warning of blasts at several locations, including the Mayor’s office, Maharashtra CMO, BSE building, and civic offices , with some messages referencing timed explosions around 1.11 pm. Security agencies conducted inspections across all sensitive premises.
In Pune, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) also received a bomb threat email, prompting evacuation of its main administrative building and a detailed search by bomb squads. Normal operations resumed after clearance.
Officials in both states said the emails contained similar patterns, suggesting a coordinated attempt to create panic. Some messages allegedly included inflammatory references and claimed responsibility under a self-styled organisation, though authorities have not verified its authenticity.
Cybercrime units in Gujarat and Maharashtra are jointly investigating the origin of the emails, analysing digital footprints, VPN routes and server data. Security has been strengthened across all sensitive installations, and officials have urged citizens not to panic, assuring that all threats are being handled with utmost seriousness.
