BRS Filled With Leaders From Other Parties, Seethakka Hits Back At KTR

Telangana Panchayat Raj Minister Dhanasari Anasuya Seethakka on Friday launched a sharp attack on BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao (KTR), questioning his criticism of Congress leaders who have joined the party from other political outfits.

Addressing a media conference at her camp office in Mulugu, Seethakka alleged that the BRS itself had become a “ mixed-bag of leaders ” after inducting politicians from several parties, including the TDP. She said it was ironic for the BRS to accuse Congress of being a “Pachha Congress” while ignoring its own political history. She asked KTR to recall how K. Chandrashekar Rao began his political career before commenting on leaders switching parties.

Seethakka said the Congress government under Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy was concentrating on welfare and development while implementing its electoral promises. She claimed the BRS could not provide even one lakh houses to the poor during its ten-year rule, whereas the Congress government had taken up 4.5 lakh Indiramma houses in its first phase.

She highlighted farmer loan waivers, bonuses for fine-quality paddy, paddy procurement, government recruitment and women-focused welfare schemes as key initiatives of the Congress government. The state was also supplying quality fine rice to the poor and providing free power up to 200 units to eligible households, she said.

The minister challenged BRS leaders to tell people how many of their earlier promises including a Dalit Chief Minister, three acres of land, double-bedroom houses, free KG-to-PG education and free fertiliser had actually been fulfilled.

Accusing the BRS and BJP of obstructing development for political reasons, Seethakka said the Congress was ready for an open debate with constituency- and mandal-wise beneficiary data. She also demanded that the BJP explain what it had done for Telangana and questioned its alleged lack of cooperation over central funds for Indiramma housing.

Seethakka warned against personal attacks and derogatory posters, stressing that political discourse should remain dignified. “Do not mistake our workers’ patience for weakness,” she said, warning that attempts to disturb the peaceful atmosphere would receive a strong democratic response.
