Brutally Honest? Mahesh Babu’s Son Gautam Gives Nani’s 'The Paradise' Just One Star
Mahesh Babu’s son Gautam Ghattamaneni has delivered a brutally honest verdict on Nani’s 'The Paradise', giving the Telugu action drama just one star out of five on Letterboxd. Despite being a fan of Nani’s acclaimed film 'Jersey', Gautam was far from impressed with the actor’s latest outing, particularly its editing and overall execution.
Gautam did not mince words while explaining his disappointment. “ I liked the cinematography and the acting in emotional scenes. I liked nothing else. Very disappointing. Also the editing was just atrocious,” he wrote in his review after 'The Paradise' arrived on Netflix on October 22. His assessment quickly attracted attention online, with screenshots of his rating circulating on social media.
Interestingly, Gautam’s criticism comes as 'The Paradise' makes its digital debut in a revised version. Directed by Srikanth Odela, the film received mixed reactions during its theatrical run, with viewers questioning its lengthy second half, excessive violence and certain creative choices. Reports about the Netflix version indicated that it had been shortened from its original theatrical runtime of two hours and 54 minutes, with changes including the removal of a much-discussed dance sequence featuring Sonali Kulkarni. However, reports differed on the exact runtime of the streaming version.
Gautam’s review has attracted additional interest because of his previously discussed Letterboxd ratings. The 20-year-old, who turned 20 on August 31, drew attention after his profile became a talking point among movie buffs. His ratings for films starring his father have also been scrutinised, with fans noticing that he does not automatically award Mahesh Babu’s movies high scores.
Earlier, Gautam made headlines for giving Yash’s 'Toxic' just half a star. The attention surrounding his ratings prompted him to add a cheeky description to his Letterboxd profile: “Welcome to this apparently national news worthy page. I will try to live up to that.” His candid approach to reviewing films has since remained a talking point among fans.
