Bulldozer Politics Targeting Poor, Alleges Bandi Sanjay
Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar has strongly criticised the Congress-led government in Telangana , alleging that it is unfairly targeting poor families by demolishing their homes while ignoring illegal constructions by influential individuals.
Speaking at a public meeting in Kamareddy district , Sanjay claimed that authorities were invoking regulations primarily against economically weaker sections. He pointed to recent demolition drives in Khammam district , where houses built by poor families on disputed lands were razed despite repeated appeals from residents.
The BJP leader accused the government of showing leniency towards wealthy violators while strictly enforcing rules against the underprivileged. He warned that if the demolition of poor people’s homes continues, the BJP would press for action against constructions allegedly raised in Full Tank Level (FTL) areas, water bodies and buffer zones by powerful individuals. Any resulting law and order issues, he said, would be the government’s responsibility.
Sanjay also alleged that no action had been taken against an educational institution reportedly linked to leaders of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen , which he claimed was built on encroached lake land. In contrast, he said, homes of poor families in Khammam were demolished even as students preparing for examinations sought relief — a move he described as discriminatory.
He further alleged that several temples had been damaged during the Congress government’s tenure and called for a broader movement against what he termed anti-people policies. During his visit, Sanjay also met the families of those arrested in connection with recent communal tensions in Banswada and demanded justice for them.
