
Canada Invites Telangana to Deepen Investment, Innovation Partnership
Telangana is stepping up its global investment outreach, with Canadian High Commissioner Chris Cooter extending an official invitation to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to visit Canada. The high-level meeting in Hyderabad underscored the growing economic relationship between the two sides, with discussions focusing on trade, investment, technology, higher education, green energy, and infrastructure development . The proposed visit is expected to open new avenues for collaboration as Telangana positions itself as a preferred destination for international investors.
A key focus of the meeting was Canada's potential participation in Telangana's flagship infrastructure projects, including the Musi River Rejuvenation Project , Hyderabad Metro Rail expansion , and the proposed Future City . Both sides explored opportunities for Canadian companies to contribute through investment, technical expertise, and sustainable urban development , reflecting the state's emphasis on world-class infrastructure and green growth.
Highlighting Canada's growing confidence in Telangana, Chris Cooter said Firan Technology Group (FTG) has decided to establish a manufacturing facility in the state, while the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC) has launched its Global Capability Centre (GCC) in Hyderabad. He also noted that CPP Investments , one of the world's largest pension investment managers, is partnering with CtrlS Datacenters through a proposed investment of up to CAD 1 billion , signalling strong international faith in Telangana's expanding digital infrastructure ecosystem.
During the discussions, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy outlined Telangana's achievements in IT, life sciences, pharmaceuticals, defence, aerospace, and advanced manufacturing , noting that Hyderabad has become one of India's leading hubs for Fortune 500 Global Capability Centres . He also sought Canada's cooperation in expanding solar energy , promoting the green economy , and supporting the ambitious Musi river restoration programme.
The Chief Minister further proposed that a consortium of Canadian universities establish a multi-university campus in Hyderabad to strengthen higher education, research, innovation, and skill development . He also invited Canadian companies, investors, and academic institutions to participate in the second edition of the Telangana Global Investors Summit , scheduled for December , to explore emerging business opportunities across the state.
Praising Telangana's investor-friendly policies, skilled workforce, and rapid industrial growth, Chris Cooter assured Canada's continued support for the state's development agenda. He also announced that a high-level Canadian trade delegation will visit Telangana in the coming months to explore partnerships in energy, urban development, defence, aerospace, and advanced technology , expressing confidence that the proposed Canada visit by Revanth Reddy would further strengthen long-term economic and educational ties between the two regions.
