Union Minister of State for Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal on Sunday claimed that Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar had offered to meet a delegation of protesters opposing the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, but they failed to submit a list of their representatives.

Speaking at a debate programme organised by the BJP on SIR in Kochi, Meghwal said the CEC, along with the two other Election Commissioners, was willing to meet the protesters if they fixed a date and time and provided details of their delegation.

The minister also criticised the INDIA bloc's mock parliament organised in Delhi a day earlier, describing it as a "mockery of the democratic system". Opposition members had held the symbolic parliamentary session and conducted a mock impeachment of the Chief Election Commissioner as part of their protest.

Meghwal further claimed that members of the protesting group had met President Droupadi Murmu, but failed to produce evidence when she sought proof of their allegations.
