Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Sunday accused the Centre of attempting to delete 20 crore voters from electoral rolls, alleging that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was using Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar to disenfranchise citizens.

Addressing Congress leaders and workers at Telangana Bhavan in New Delhi on November 1, ahead of the INDIA bloc rally at Ramlila Maidan, Reddy alleged that 13.50 crore votes had already been deleted and the Election Commission was attempting to remove another 20 crore. He claimed the exercise could eliminate 15–20 per cent of the total electorate.

The Chief Minister accused Modi of targeting poor people, Dalits, Adivasis and women by allegedly attempting to deprive them of their voting rights. He also recalled the BJP's 400-seat slogan during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, alleging that Modi had planned to amend the Constitution and abolish reservations if the party secured that mandate.

Reddy further alleged that the BJP had come to power in Bihar, Maharashtra and West Bengal by strategically removing voters from electoral rolls and was attempting to use the same approach to retain power.

He said the Congress and the INDIA bloc, under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi, had organised a massive public meeting at Ramlila Maidan to oppose the alleged conspiracy. According to Reddy, special trains had been arranged to bring 15,000 people from Telangana to Delhi for the rally.

Comparing the political battle to the Ramayana, Reddy described Congress workers as a 'Vanara Sena' fighting to defeat Modi, whom he likened to Ravana. He asserted that the Congress would not rest until the BJP was defeated and predicted that the Ramlila Maidan protest would eventually lead to Modi's removal from power.

He urged party workers to take the INDIA bloc leaders' message to every village and household.

After his address, Reddy visited AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge's residence and joined senior Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi, along with INDIA bloc leaders Farooq Abdullah, Akhilesh Yadav, Mamata Banerjee, Tejashwi Yadav, Mehbooba Mufti and Sanjay Raut, in the rally at Ramlila Maidan.

The allegations regarding voter deletions were made by Reddy and were not independently established in the report.
