Chelsea FC have completed the signing of Jordan Henderson on a two-year contract, bringing the experienced England midfielder to Stamford Bridge ahead of the 2026-27 season following his departure from Brentford F.C..

The 36-year-old becomes Chelsea's oldest signing since BlueCo took over the club in 2022, marking a shift towards adding experience to a squad largely built around younger players. Henderson has won eight major trophies during his career, including the UEFA Champions League in 2019 and the Premier League in 2020 while captaining Liverpool F.C..

Speaking after completing the move, Jordan Henderson said joining Chelsea was an opportunity he could not refuse. He praised manager Xabi Alonso, saying he has great admiration for him, while also highlighting the quality of the squad and the club ownership's ambition to restore Chelsea to the top level of European football.

Henderson's arrival is expected to provide leadership, experience and stability in midfield. Beyond his on-field contributions, the former Liverpool captain is seen as a valuable mentor for Chelsea's emerging talents, bringing a winning mentality forged through years of competing at the highest level.

Chelsea have been active during the summer transfer window, with Henderson joining fellow new arrivals Danny Welbeck, Morgan Rogers, Maxence Lacroix, Marco Palestra and Geovany Quenda. His signing underlines Chelsea's strategy of balancing youth with proven experience as the club prepares to compete for major honours in the 2026-27 campaign.
