China, ASEAN Nations Strengthen Cultural Heritage Partnership at Dunhuang Forum

The "Enduring Heritage, Shared Beauty for All" Dialogue on China-ASEAN Cultural Heritage concluded in Dunhuang, Gansu Province , bringing together officials, heritage experts, scholars, youth representatives, and journalists from China, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, the Philippines, and Cambodia to strengthen regional cooperation in cultural heritage preservation.

The event, held on July 2 , focused on enhancing China-ASEAN collaboration in safeguarding cultural heritage, promoting people-to-people exchanges, and fostering mutual understanding through shared cultural values. Participants agreed that cultural heritage serves as an important bridge connecting history with the future and can play a greater role in strengthening ties between China and ASEAN member states.

Around 150 delegates attended the dialogue, including representatives from international organizations, think tanks, and cultural institutions. Speakers called for expanding cooperation in heritage protection , building consensus on preservation strategies, and encouraging greater cultural exchanges to support a closer China-ASEAN community.

Experts from China and Southeast Asia also shared experiences on digital conservation of cultural heritage , heritage-driven industrial development , and innovative approaches to preserving historical sites and traditions . The discussions highlighted the growing importance of technology and cross-border collaboration in protecting cultural assets.

During the event, organizers unveiled a China-ASEAN cultural heritage-themed intellectual property (IP) image and launched the "Cultural Heritage IP Incubation Capacity Enhancement Program," aimed at promoting cultural creativity and heritage-related innovation across the region.

The dialogue was co-hosted by the China International Publishing Center and the Information Office of the People's Government of Gansu Province , with support from several cultural and academic institutions, including UNESCO-affiliated organizations.

As part of the initiative, a "China-ASEAN Youth Cultural Heritage Tour" is being held in Dunhuang from July 2 to 5 , providing young participants from the region an opportunity to explore the city's rich historical legacy and deepen cultural exchanges.
