China’s Top Business Leaders Head To India Ahead Of Crucial BRICS Meetings

India’s Consul General in Shanghai Pratik Mathur on Friday greeted Song Hou, Director General of Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China Ltd (COMAC), ahead of his visit to New Delhi for the BRICS Business Forum 2026.

Mathur conveyed his best wishes to Song, who heads China’s leading commercial aircraft manufacturer and is travelling to India to participate in the business forum scheduled from September 9 to 13.

“Both sides had productive discussions on fostering B2B, technology & connectivity ties for inclusive growth,” the Consulate General of India in Shanghai said in a post on X. The discussions align with India’s BRICS Presidency vision of promoting people centric development, technology cooperation and stronger connectivity.

The main BRICS Business Forum is scheduled for September 11 at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, a day before the 18th BRICS Leaders’ Summit on September 12 and 13. The forum is being organised by FICCI in coordination with the Department of Commerce and the Ministry of External Affairs.

The forum will bring together business leaders from BRICS countries to discuss areas including trade, investment, technology, digital innovation, services and cross border cooperation. The BRICS Business Council has highlighted sessions on digital public infrastructure, startups, emerging technologies, services trade and cross border value chains.

Song’s participation is also part of a wider Chinese corporate presence expected around the BRICS meetings. Mathur has engaged with senior Chinese business representatives, including COSCO Shipping Group Chairman Wan Min, reflecting efforts to explore cooperation in areas such as shipping, logistics and connectivity.

The timing is significant as India seeks to use its 2026 BRICS Presidency to expand business to business partnerships and strengthen economic cooperation among member and partner countries.

COMAC’s presence could particularly draw attention to opportunities in commercial aviation, aerospace technology and industrial cooperation, although no specific commercial agreement was announced in the Consulate’s statement.

The upcoming BRICS meetings are expected to provide a platform for India and participating countries to deepen economic and technological partnerships while advancing the broader priorities of the grouping.
