Chiranjeevi's Vishwambhara Gets October 16 Release, Set for Dussehra Clash With Rajinikanth's Jailer 2
Ending months of speculation, the makers of Chiranjeevi starrer Vishwambhara have officially announced that the long-delayed social fantasy entertainer will release in theatres on October 16, 2026 , coinciding with the Dussehra festival. The announcement marks a major milestone for one of Telugu cinema's most ambitious projects after repeated postponements caused by extensive post production and visual effects work.
Directed by Mallidi Vassishta and produced by UV Creations , the big budget fantasy adventure features Trisha Krishnan , Kunal Kapoor , Ashika Ranganath , Surbhi Puranik , Isha Chawla , and Rao Ramesh in key roles, with Oscar-winning composer M. M. Keeravani scoring the music. Reports indicate the film carries nearly 4,800 VFX shots , making it one of the most visual effects intensive Telugu productions to date. The makers have previously stated that the release was deferred to ensure world class visual quality rather than compromise on the final output.
Initially slated for a Sankranti 2025 release, Vishwambhara underwent multiple schedule changes as the team refined its visual effects. Director Vassishta has also dismissed speculation that the film would be split into two parts, reiterating that it is conceived as a single cinematic experience.
The release sets up a marquee festive showdown with Rajinikanth's Jailer 2 , which is widely expected to arrive on October 15, 2026 , although its final release date is yet to be officially confirmed. If both films retain their schedules, audiences can expect one of the biggest Dussehra box office battles between two of Indian cinema's most celebrated superstars.
