CJP Leaders Saurav Das, Ashutosh Ranka Sent To Tihar For 5-Day Judicial Custody

Two senior Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) leaders have been sent to five days of judicial custody, but the move has failed to silence the campaign against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. As CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke announces another Tricolour protest, the growing confrontation raises serious concerns about the space available for dissent and the unequal treatment of those demanding accountability.

Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka were sent to Tihar Jail on Wednesday over their entry into Jantar Mantar, recently denotified as a designated protest site. Police alleged that they violated peace bonds and obstructed officials. CJP leader Ajinkya Shinde, detained alongside them, was released on a personal bond of ₹5,000. The police action has drawn sharp criticism from the party, which maintains that the campaign will continue.

Dipke has announced a “Lehra Do Tiranga” protest at Central Park, Connaught Place, at 5 pm on October 16, urging people to carry the national flag. He has challenged the authorities over the detention of his colleagues, insisting that waving the Tricolour must not become grounds for suppressing peaceful dissent.
