With another cyclone threatening Andhra Pradesh within days of Cyclone Arnab, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Sunday cancelled his scheduled visit to Delhi on Monday and directed officials to remain fully prepared to handle the impending weather emergency.

The Chief Minister conducted a high-level review meeting on cyclone preparedness and the ongoing relief and restoration operations following Cyclone Arnab. Officials informed him that the prevailing depression over the Bay of Bengal was likely to intensify into a deep depression and subsequently develop into a cyclone. It is expected to strengthen into a severe cyclonic storm over the west-central Bay of Bengal by November 2, before potentially crossing the Andhra Pradesh coast near Bapatla on the morning of November 3.

According to officials, wind speeds of 100–110 kmph are likely during landfall, raising concerns about damage to infrastructure and disruption of essential services.

Moderate to heavy rainfall, with isolated instances of extremely heavy rainfall, is forecast over South Coastal and Central Coastal Andhra Pradesh on November 2. Several areas are likely to experience heavy to extremely heavy rainfall on November 3 and 4.

Authorities have identified 20 mandals across four districts as particularly vulnerable to extremely heavy rainfall. These include nine mandals in Eluru, five each in Krishna and NTR districts, and one in Bapatla district.

Officials cautioned that strong winds could damage numerous electricity poles across 12 districts. Responding to the warning, Naidu instructed departments to arrange adequate manpower, equipment and other resources in advance to ensure quick restoration of essential services.

He also directed officials to issue cyclone situation bulletins every four hours and asked telecom network operators to take preventive measures to minimise disruptions to mobile connectivity.

Meanwhile, officials briefed the Chief Minister on the damage caused by Cyclone Arnab and the progress of relief and restoration work. Naidu sought details on electricity restoration in affected areas and was informed that power supply would be restored across all affected locations by Sunday night (November 1).
