CM Chandrababu to Distribute Title Deeds to 24,057 Families in Vijayawada

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu will distribute regularisation title deeds to 24,057 families in Vijayawada on September 30, providing them with legal ownership rights over house sites allotted decades ago during the tenure of former Chief Minister NT Rama Rao.

The distribution will be held as part of the state government’s ‘Peddalaku Pattabhishekam’ (coronation of the poor) programme. The initiative seeks to regularise houses built on old house-site assignments and provide beneficiaries with secure and legally recognised ownership of their properties.

According to the government, revenue land records and title deeds will be handed over to the 24,057 beneficiary families in Vijayawada. The regularisation process covers around 617 acres of land, equivalent to nearly 30 lakh square yards.

The government has estimated the market value of the land covered under the exercise at around Rs 24,297 crore. The regularisation is expected to provide an asset benefit of up to Rs 45 lakh per family, depending on the value of the property.

The beneficiaries are spread across 15 mandals and eight Assembly constituencies in the erstwhile NTR and Krishna districts. They include families from Vijayawada East, Vijayawada West and Vijayawada Central, as well as Gannavaram, Jaggayyapeta, Mylavaram, Nandigama and Tiruvuru constituencies.

A significant number of beneficiaries are residents of the hill areas of Vijayawada, where families have built homes on sites covered by old house-site assignments. Residents of these areas have been seeking legal ownership rights for decades to secure their homes and property permanently.

The government said the regularisation would give such families permanent ownership rights and greater security over their properties, while resolving long-standing issues surrounding the status of their houses.

Among the beneficiaries, 12,093 families belong to the BC communities, while 6,130 are from the OC category. The list also includes 4,546 SC families, 955 Muslim BC families and 333 ST families.

The September 30 programme is expected to formally extend legal property rights to thousands of families who have lived on these house sites for several decades.
