CM Revanth Reddy Announces 20-Acre Sevalal Maharaj Shrine at Jayanti Celebrations
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy expressed strong confidence in the results of the recent municipal elections, stating that 85–90% of municipalities and corporations in the state are expected to be secured by the Congress party . He made these remarks while attending the Sant Sri Sevalal Maharaj Jayanti celebrations at Banjara Bhavan , Hyderabad, on Sunday.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister described the election outcomes as a testament to the governance provided by his administration over the past two years . “These municipal elections are like a trial by fire for my government. I had earlier said that the public would give us 80% of the seats. Considering the current scenario, I am confident that up to 90% of the mayoral posts will go to us,” he said. While acknowledging that some projects are still pending, Reddy affirmed that his administration had made no shortcomings in efforts , and instructed officials to construct BT roads across all mandals in the state .
Without naming the BRS party, the Chief Minister criticised the opposition, asserting that despite losing the assembly elections, they have not learnt from their mistakes . He added that while people rejected the previous government for its governance failures, it is inappropriate for the opposition to blame voters for not supporting them. Reddy expressed optimism that the Congress party would emerge victorious in the upcoming mayoral and chairman elections .
“I have never acted as a ruler; I perform my responsibilities purely as a public servant,” he said, adding, “I will remain actively engaged in serving the people for the next 20 years.”
During the celebrations, the Chief Minister announced the construction of a dedicated pilgrimage site for Banjara tribals in the Nallamala forest , akin to the Nagoba temple in Adilabad and the Sammakka-Saralamma temple in Medaram , to honour Sant Sri Sevalal Maharaj . He said the site would reflect Banjara culture and traditions, and revealed that the government had already allocated 20 acres of land in Nallamala. Officials have been instructed to complete the project in time for the 2027 Sevalal Maharaj Jayanti celebrations, designing it not only as a spiritual centre but also as a world-class tourist destination.
The Chief Minister promised holistic development for tribal settlements , directing officials to prioritise infrastructure rather than just make announcements. He stressed that all mandals and villages in Telangana must have BT roads , and each gram panchayat should have a school building, panchayat office, potable water, and electricity facilities. In forested areas with electricity challenges, officials were advised to install solar pump sets. Reddy said, “Sant Sevalal Maharaj, who taught humanity to walk the path of peace, is an ideal for 15 million tribals. It is the government’s responsibility to officially celebrate such a great figure’s Jayanti.”
Highlighting the role of Lambada communities in Telangana’s reconstruction, Reddy recalled their support since 2006. He noted that the government lacked land for distribution, and therefore, education remains the only way out of poverty . He assured that tribal students would be provided all facilities to study hard and seize opportunities . The celebrations were attended by Tribal Welfare Minister Adluri Lakshman Kumar, MP Porika Balaram Naik , and several public representatives. Prior to the programme, the Chief Minister inspected Banjara products and paid floral tributes to the statue of Sant Sri Sevalal Maharaj .
