CM Revanth Reddy, Dy CM Bhatti Vikramarka Express Solidarity with Telangana Speaker

Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Tuesday expressed solidarity with Telangana Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar following the tense developments witnessed on the opening day of the Assembly session. Soon after arriving at the Assembly, Revanth Reddy went to the Speaker’s chamber and met him personally. The Chief Minister expressed concern over Monday’s incidents and assured the Speaker that the government would stand firmly by him.

The developments have triggered a fresh political controversy between the ruling Congress and the opposition BRS. The dispute followed an argument between BRS leaders and officials on the Assembly premises on Monday. The Congress alleged that some BRS leaders had engaged in a confrontation with government officials during the incident.

The ruling party also levelled serious allegations against BRS working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) and former minister T Harish Rao, claiming that they behaved inappropriately in the presence of women officials. Congress leaders further alleged that BRS members used derogatory and unparliamentary language against the Speaker, raising concerns over the conduct expected inside and around the legislature.

The episode received considerable attention in the media, with reports highlighting the confrontation and the subsequent political exchanges between the two sides. The allegations have added to the already charged atmosphere surrounding the ongoing Assembly session.

Revanth Reddy is understood to have been deeply disturbed after seeing visuals in which the Speaker appeared emotionally affected while making personal remarks about the episode. During his meeting with Prasad Kumar on Tuesday, the Chief Minister reportedly offered reassurance and conveyed that those responsible would face appropriate action under the law and Assembly rules.

Meanwhile, the BRS has strongly criticised the government over the manner in which Assembly proceedings are being handled. The opposition party has raised objections to what it described as the government’s treatment of opposition leaders and questioned the approach being adopted towards them during the session.

With both sides continuing to trade allegations, tensions between the ruling Congress and BRS are expected to remain high. The latest developments have set the stage for potentially stormy proceedings in the coming days, with further confrontations between the treasury benches and the opposition likely to dominate the Assembly session.
