
CM Revanth Reddy Orders Facial Recognition for All Welfare Recipients
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Tuesday participated in a high-level meeting of district collectors and officials at the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar State Secretariat , focused on governance and the state’s “Progressive Administration Plan.” The session began with Telangana Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao welcoming the Chief Minister with a floral bouquet.
Addressing the officials, CM Reddy emphasized the immediate initiation of a facial recognition process to ensure welfare benefits reach only eligible recipients. He stressed that while entitled beneficiaries must receive their due assistance, ineligible individuals should be removed from the system. The Chief Minister noted that around three lakh ineligible social security pensioners have already been identified and removed through facial recognition. He pointed out that previous lapses in using technology had allowed many ineligible recipients to continue receiving benefits.
The CM also issued several policy directions during the meeting:
• Promoting solar energy : Officials were asked to raise awareness among farmers about solar pump sets and encourage rooftop solar installations connected to the grid for additional income.
• Hostel registrations : Details of women’s and children’s hostels in Hyderabad, Cyberabad, Malkajgiri, and other urban areas should be recorded systematically.
• School regulations: Educational institutions must take responsibility if drugs , tobacco, or e-cigarettes are used on campus. Schools should also appoint psychologists along with teachers and physical education staff.
• Transportation safety: Fitness checks for school buses and other vehicles must be strictly enforced. Drivers of RTC buses and private vehicles must undergo eye tests. Road maintenance, including pothole repairs, should be prioritized to reduce accidents.
The meeting also extensively discussed strategies to strengthen governance and accelerate development initiatives across the state.
