Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has announced that the government will fill all vacancies in the police department by 2028, as part of efforts to strengthen the force against emerging challenges such as drug trafficking and cybercrime. Addressing the Police Martyrs’ Memorial Day parade in Hyderabad, he paid tribute to personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty and praised their contribution to public safety.

The Chief Minister stressed the need for a coordinated campaign against narcotics, noting that the state’s EAGLE force had received appreciation from Union Home Minister Amit Shah. He called on educational institutions, teachers and young people to participate in drug prevention efforts and help curb illegal supplies.

Addressing road safety concerns, Revanth Reddy highlighted the establishment of the Telangana Traffic Management, Road and Rail Safety Bureau to coordinate traffic regulation, highway patrolling and accident investigations. He also directed officials to intensify inspections of hotels and food establishments through TG SAFE to prevent food adulteration and protect public health.

The government has recruited around 16,000 constables and sub-inspectors by October 2025 and approved another 7,437 posts for recruitment in 2026. The Chief Minister said appointments would continue in phases until all vacancies were filled by 2028. He also highlighted the recruitment of transgender persons as traffic assistants and the establishment of the Young India Police School on 44 acres at Manchirevula in Rangareddy district for the children of police personnel.

On women's safety, he cited the work of SHE Teams, the ‘Stand With Her’ initiative and ‘Spandana’ Immediate Protection Teams, which are intended to provide swift assistance to women and children facing emergencies.

Revanth Reddy called for people-friendly policing, urging officers to treat citizens with courtesy while taking strict action against land grabbing, drug trafficking and food adulteration. He also announced enhanced compensation for families of police personnel who die on duty, with assistance for some categories rising to ₹1.25 crore and ₹2 crore for families of senior officers.

Emphasising that law and order is essential for development, the Chief Minister said public safety was critical to attracting investment and expanding the IT and tourism sectors.

DGP C.V. Anand remembered police personnel who died in anti-Naxal operations, noting their sacrifices had helped improve security. Revanth Reddy also paid tribute to martyrs Dev Singh, Pramod Kumar and Gajula Soumya, describing their service as an enduring example of dedication to public protection.
