Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Friday predicted that the state's next Assembly elections would be held in 2029 instead of 2028 , following the proposed nationwide delimitation exercise. Expressing strong confidence in the Congress party's future prospects, he said the party would secure more than 117 seats and return to power with a comfortable majority after the reorganization of constituencies.

Addressing the Rythu Ashirvada Sabha at Madhira in Khammam district after releasing Rythu Bharosa assistance to farmers, the Chief Minister alleged that the NDA government at the Centre was making efforts to push the delimitation bill during the upcoming Parliament session. According to him, the exercise could increase Telangana's Assembly constituencies from 119 to 182 and Lok Sabha seats from 17 to 26 , leading to elections being held in May-June 2029.

Revanth Reddy said Congress would emerge stronger after delimitation and form the government again. Referring to his prediction before the 2023 Assembly elections, he noted that he had forecast Congress winning 65 seats, which later became a reality. He challenged BRS president K. Chandrashekar Rao to prepare for the next political battle and asserted that Congress leaders would work tirelessly to achieve their electoral goals.

The Chief Minister also announced a new political slogan and said he would meet Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge in Delhi later this month. He expressed confidence that Telangana could contribute 20 Lok Sabha seats to the Congress party in the 2029 parliamentary elections.

Launching a sharp attack on the BRS leadership, Revanth Reddy questioned survey reports predicting Congress's decline and accused the opposition of misleading the public. He also alleged that senior BRS leader T. Harish Rao was maintaining contacts with the BJP and challenged him to publicly deny any plans of joining the party.

A major portion of the Chief Minister's speech focused on agriculture and welfare. He said the happiness of farmers was the biggest blessing for the government and reiterated that the administration was committed to making farming more profitable. He stated that ₹9,000 crore had been credited to 73.30 lakh farmers under the Rythu Bharosa scheme during the last nine days. At the event, he released the final installment of ₹1,009.15 crore benefiting 1.44 lakh farmers , launched the issuance of e-pattadar passbooks , and initiated the release of ₹3,504 crore for maize farmers.

Highlighting the government's agricultural spending, Revanth Reddy said Telangana had invested ₹1.70 lakh crore in the farm sector during the last 30 months , including expenditure on Rythu Bharosa, loan waivers, crop insurance, free power supply and paddy procurement. He said the government had continued welfare commitments despite inheriting significant debt and pointed to initiatives such as new ration cards, subsidised rice distribution, 7 lakh Indiramma houses , ₹500 LPG cylinders, free bus travel for women, support for self-help groups and the recruitment of 67,717 government employees .

The Chief Minister expressed confidence that beneficiaries of these welfare programmes would continue to support Congress, strengthening the party's position in future elections.
