CM Revanth Reddy Urges Officials to Make Government Offices People-Friendly
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy said the 10.5 lakh full-time, contract and outsourcing employees working for the Telangana government have the responsibility of serving nearly four crore people in the state. He said only about three per cent of the population was engaged in delivering services to the remaining 95 per cent, making dedication and commitment among government employees essential for ensuring that welfare benefits reach the poor effectively.
Revanth Reddy made the remarks after inaugurating the newly constructed Integrated District Offices Complex in Karimnagar on Tuesday. He also unveiled a Telangana Thalli statue on the premises, inspected the Collectorate building and held a review meeting with district officials. Union Minister of State Bandi Sanjay Kumar, state ministers Duddilla Sridhar Babu, Tummala Nageswara Rao, Ponnam Prabhakar, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and Adluri Laxman Kumar, along with elected representatives and senior officials, attended the programme.
Addressing officials, the Chief Minister said employees should treat poor and distressed people approaching government offices as members of their own families. Government employees, he said, are the key link between welfare schemes, government decisions and beneficiaries, adding that the public perception of the government is largely shaped by how effectively officials deliver services.
He said providing proper infrastructure and facilities to employees was the government’s responsibility. The government was addressing employee concerns relating to promotions, transfers, PRC, retirement benefits and health security, while salaries were being paid on the first day of every month since his government assumed office. He urged employees to continue serving people while resolving their pending issues in coordination with the government.
The Chief Minister said development works worth ₹944 crore had been launched or taken up for foundation-laying in Karimnagar. Telangana had also secured ₹840 crore under the Urban Challenge Fund with assistance from the Centre. He said the state would maintain a cooperative approach with the Union government on development matters.
Referring to Hyderabad Cantonment, Revanth Reddy said the transfer of defence land had remained pending for years. He said successive governments had pursued the issue and claimed that his government secured 170 acres of defence land after approaching Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh within six months of assuming office.
He said the nearly ₹5,000-crore elevated corridor in the cantonment area would be completed within a year. The government had also secured permission to construct a road beneath the Begumpet Airport runway. Revanth Reddy said political differences should not prevent the Centre and state from cooperating on development and announced another review meeting on Karimnagar’s development soon.
