CM Revanth Reddy Urges Youth To Focus On Skilled Blue-Collar Jobs Amid AI Disruption
Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has urged young people to adapt to the changing employment landscape by acquiring practical skills and exploring opportunities in skilled blue-collar professions , saying the rise of Artificial Intelligence (AI) should be viewed as an opportunity rather than a threat.
Speaking at The Hindu Huddle 2026 in Bengaluru, the Chief Minister addressed a range of issues, including employment, agriculture, women's empowerment, governance, and Telangana's long-term development strategy. He said concerns over AI replacing white-collar jobs should not discourage the younger generation, as new opportunities are emerging in sectors that require specialised technical skills.
To prepare youth for these changes, he highlighted the government's efforts to strengthen skill development through the Young India Skills University and the modernisation of Industrial Training Institutes into Advanced Technology Centres (ATCs) . These initiatives, he said, are aimed at equipping students with industry-relevant expertise.
Revanth Reddy also pointed to the government's focus on employment generation. He said the Telangana Public Service Commission (TGPSC) had been reformed to ensure transparency and efficiency, enabling the state to fill 67,760 government jobs within just 15 months . He further announced that a notification for the recruitment of 5,000 police personnel would be issued soon.
Highlighting measures taken for the welfare of farmers, the Chief Minister said the government waived Rs 20,616 crore in crop loans benefiting thousands of farming families soon after assuming office. He noted that Telangana has continued to provide Rs 12,000 per acre under Rythu Bharosa while also offering a Rs 500 bonus per quintal above the Minimum Support Price for paddy procurement.
On women's empowerment , Revanth Reddy said the state has extended interest-free loans worth Rs 60,000 crore to nearly 67 lakh women associated with self-help groups, with the government bearing the interest burden. He said these groups have expanded their role beyond traditional activities and are now operating buses, managing renewable energy projects, running fuel stations, and supporting infrastructure development in government schools.
The Chief Minister also outlined the state's ambitious Telangana Rising 2047 vision, which aims to transform Telangana into a $3 trillion economy . He said region-specific development plans are being implemented through the CURE, PURE and RARE models , while major investments are being made in lake restoration, metro expansion, electric mobility, and urban infrastructure.
Referring to the proposed Bharat Future City , Revanth Reddy said the project is being developed to attract global investments and position Telangana as a hub for innovation and sustainable growth. He asserted that Telangana's aspirations are not limited to competing with neighbouring states but are aligned with the progress achieved by countries such as China, Japan and Germany .
Concluding the interaction, the Chief Minister said his 17-year experience in the opposition and his background in a farming family have shaped his approach to governance and strengthened his commitment to public service.
