CM Revanth, Sergio Gor Discuss Visas, AI and Future-Focused Telangana-US Ties

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy met US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor in New Delhi on Thursday to explore ways of expanding cooperation between Telangana and the United States, with discussions focusing on visa facilitation, artificial intelligence (AI), biopharma, higher education and other emerging technology sectors. The meeting comes as Telangana continues to position itself as a preferred destination for global investment in technology and life sciences.

The two leaders reviewed opportunities to strengthen bilateral engagement in areas such as AI, biotechnology, critical and emerging technologies, research, innovation and academic collaboration. Revanth Reddy thanked the US envoy for his positive engagement with Telangana and expressed confidence that closer ties would pave the way for greater investments, technology partnerships and knowledge exchange.

Highlighting the state's growing global profile, the Chief Minister noted that the Telugu-speaking community in the United States has become a strong bridge between the two regions. He said Telugu is among the fastest-growing Indian languages in the US, with the diaspora making significant contributions across the technology, healthcare, research and business sectors. Their success, he said, has strengthened educational, cultural and economic links while creating fresh opportunities for collaboration.

Visa-related issues also featured prominently during the discussions. Revanth Reddy emphasised the importance of ensuring smoother visa procedures for students, professionals, entrepreneurs and business travellers from Telangana. According to officials, the meeting explored ways to improve mobility and make it easier for people pursuing education, employment and investment opportunities in the United States.

The Chief Minister also showcased Telangana's strengths as one of India's leading innovation-driven economies. Home to Hyderabad's globally recognised IT, startup and life sciences ecosystem, the state has emerged as a major hub for multinational technology companies, pharmaceutical manufacturers and Global Capability Centres (GCCs). The government is now prioritising investments in artificial intelligence, semiconductors, data centres, advanced manufacturing and other high-value industries as part of its long-term economic growth strategy.

Ambassador Sergio Gor reaffirmed the United States' commitment to expanding cooperation with Telangana across strategic sectors. He expressed interest in strengthening partnerships in AI, biopharma, higher education and other future technologies, while assuring continued support for initiatives that promote innovation, research and talent development.

Following the meeting, Gor shared his views on social media platform X, describing the interaction as productive and saying both sides had held constructive discussions on deepening cooperation in critical technology sectors. He added that he looked forward to working more closely with Telangana to further strengthen the broader India-US strategic partnership.
