CM Revanth Urges Communists to Unite Against Modi, Raises Alarm Over SIR Vote Deletions

Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has called upon the Communists to intensify their fight to protect democracy and the voting rights of the poor in the country. Describing Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the “most dangerous person” for the country, he said Modi’s defeat would be the Communists’ victory.

Speaking at a memorial meeting for Communist leader Saramapalli Malla Reddy on Monday, Revanth Reddy alleged that a conspiracy was underway to delete votes under the name of Special Intensive Revision (SIR), particularly targeting SC, ST and minority voters. He praised Saramapalli as a leader who rose from a remote area to the national level and dedicated his life to farmers, describing his death as an irreparable loss to the farming community.

Revanth Reddy recalled Saramapalli’s extensive work on tenant farmers’ problems and remunerative crop prices. Describing him as an “encyclopedia” on agriculture, he said the Communist leader understood farmers’ challenges from soil preparation to harvesting. The Chief Minister said his government would consider the issues raised in Saramapalli’s writings and work towards resolving farmers’ problems, adding that he personally held the late leader in high regard.

On the Communist movement, Revanth Reddy said the Communists had fought for minimum wages for landless poor workers, while Congress governments subsequently introduced minimum wage legislation. Similarly, Communist struggles for “land to the tiller” were followed by the distribution of assigned lands to the poor. He said Congress governments had distributed 24.56 lakh acres of assigned land, including 10 lakh acres held by tribal communities. He also credited the Congress with introducing MGNREGA and the Food Security Act, saying several issues raised by Communists eventually received policy solutions.

Revanth Reddy urged all democratic forces to unite against Narendra Modi, alleging that the BJP was adopting new methods when unable to win elections democratically. He accused the party of using SIR to remove opposition votes and alleged a conspiracy to delete one crore votes in Telangana, targeting SCs, STs and minorities. He also criticised BJP leaders for saying the exercise carried out in West Bengal would be replicated in Telangana and accused the Election Commission of being used for political purposes.

Questioning the silence of the BRS, Revanth Reddy urged Communists to distinguish electoral politics from the fundamental rights of the poor. He said protecting voting rights should remain a priority and reiterated that “Modi’s defeat is the Communists’ victory.”

The Chief Minister also said steps would be taken to ensure Saramapalli Malla Reddy’s name remains remembered, after discussions with his Cabinet colleagues.
