CM Shivakumar Takes Metro to Kanakapura, Begins Gratitude Tour in Constituency
Karnataka Chief Minister D K Shivakumar on Sunday chose a Bengaluru Metro ride to travel towards Kanakapura , marking his first visit to his constituency after assuming office, as part of a day long gratitude tour aimed at thanking voters who supported him over the years.
The Chief Minister boarded the Metro from Vidhana Soudha station and travelled to the last station on Kanakapura Road before continuing by road to Kanakapura in Bengaluru South district . The decision to travel by Metro, according to the Chief Minister’s Office , was taken to avoid traffic disruption in Bengaluru and ensure smooth movement for commuters.
Before boarding the train, Shivakumar spoke to reporters and reflected on his long political journey, saying that people from his native place Doddalahalli , his earlier constituency Sathanur , Kanakapura , and Bengaluru South had supported him through the years and played a key role in his rise to the top post.
He said the visit was an emotional return to his roots and a commitment he had made to meet supporters personally after becoming Chief Minister. He also noted that many well wishers who travelled to Bengaluru were unable to meet him due to time constraints, and therefore he was now going to meet them in person.
During the Metro journey, the Chief Minister greeted passengers and interacted briefly with commuters, drawing attention from fellow travellers as he moved through the coach.
The Chief Minister’s Office stated that the choice of Metro travel reflected a people friendly approach and was intended to minimise inconvenience to the public. It added that Shivakumar would complete the remaining journey by road from the Metro station to Kanakapura.
As part of the day long programme, around 20 to 25 locations have been identified across Harohalli and other parts of Kanakapura taluk , where the Chief Minister is scheduled to meet people and listen to their concerns. The visit is expected to continue from morning till late evening with several public interaction events planned.
Shivakumar was sworn in as Chief Minister along with 13 ministers on June 3, following the resignation of Siddaramaiah on May 28.
