Collector Abhilasha Drives Organic Farming Initiative in Nirmal

District Collector Abhilasha Abhinav has announced key measures to strengthen organic farming across the district, stressing its long-term benefits for both farmers and consumers . She was speaking at a training programme held at the Farmers’ Platform in Bail Bazaar under the National Mission on Natural Farming .

Addressing participants, the Collector said natural farming plays a vital role in building a healthier society. She noted that chemical-free cultivation improves soil health, ensures sustainable incomes , and provides safe and nutritious food to the public.

To expand organic practices, officials have identified 15 clusters in the district. From each cluster, two women members from IKP groups were selected and trained as Krishi Sakhis . These trained resource persons will guide farmers at the village level and spread awareness about organic methods.

Certificates were distributed to those who completed the training programme.

To strengthen market access, the Collector directed officials to establish a dedicated sales outlet at the district headquarters and facilitate direct marketing so farmers can sell produce directly to consumers.

Officials expressed confidence that the initiative will boost organic cultivation, increase farmers’ income, and make quality food more accessible. Agriculture department officials, IKP staff, and farmers participated in the programme.
