India head coach Gautam Gambhir has exuded confidence ahead of the team's two-match Test series against Sri Lanka, declaring that the visitors will be fully prepared when the opening Test begins in Galle on August 15. The series marks India's first assignment in the new ICC World Test Championship cycle following last year's disappointing 0-2 home Test defeat to South Africa, making it an important opportunity to begin afresh.

Speaking to the squad before a training session in Colombo, Gambhir delivered a motivating message, urging his players to make every practice session count. He stressed that the team already knows the challenges ahead and must now ensure that no preparation is left incomplete.

The India coach said the players must push their limits, complete every aspect of their training, and be ready to respond to every situation once the series begins. Gambhir expressed confidence that, whether India bats or bowls first on August 15, the team would have the answers to every challenge Sri Lanka presents.

The practice session also saw Gambhir formally welcome two new members of the squad. Spin-bowling all-rounder Saransh Jain, rewarded after years of consistent domestic performances for Madhya Pradesh, earned praise for his perseverance. Gambhir congratulated the 33-year-old on his hard work and encouraged him to seize every opportunity to make both his family and the country proud.

He also applauded fast bowler Auqib Nabi, who has replaced the injured Jasprit Bumrah. Gambhir credited Nabi for his outstanding performances during the previous domestic season, where he played a key role in Jammu & Kashmir's historic maiden Ranji Trophy triumph, calling it a remarkable achievement.

The first Test will be played in Galle from August 15, while the second Test begins in Colombo on August 23. With a fresh World Test Championship campaign about to begin, India will be eager to put the disappointment of their last home series behind them and make a strong statement on Sri Lankan soil.
