India continued its dominant run at the Commonwealth Kabaddi Championship with commanding victories in both the women’s and men’s categories, as the women defeated Uganda 41-18 and the men overcame Malaysia 37-23 in Ahmedabad on Sunday.

The Indian women produced a strong all-round performance to secure a convincing 23-point victory over Uganda. Captain Nidhi Sharma spearheaded the attack with nine points, while Sakshi and Anu chipped in with eight and seven points, respectively, to keep India firmly in control.

India’s raiders accumulated 25 points, while the defence contributed 11 tackle points. Four all-out points further strengthened the team’s advantage, underlining India’s effectiveness at both ends of the mat. Ritu led the defensive effort with six tackle points, while Jyoti added four.

Uganda struggled to match India’s attacking intensity, managing 13 raid points and five tackle points. Namataka Beatrice was the team’s leading scorer with seven points, but India’s defensive discipline and ability to inflict all-outs proved decisive.

The Indian men followed suit with a 14-point win over Malaysia, riding on a standout performance from Neeraj Narwal, who finished with 13 points, including four bonus points. Bharat contributed six raid points, while Aditya Shinde and Naveen Kumar added five and three raid points, respectively.

India established a commanding 27-11 lead at half-time, putting Malaysia under considerable pressure. Although Malaysia fought back to win the second half 12-10, the early deficit proved too substantial to overcome.

India finished with 27 raid points, four tackle points and four all-out points. Deepak S led the defence with two tackle points, while Pravesh Malik and Shubham Shinde contributed one each.

For Malaysia, Isaac Alton and Leong Suresh Kim Seng scored six raid points apiece, with Leong also adding a tackle point. However, India’s two all-outs in the opening half had already laid the foundation for victory.

The twin wins strengthened India’s campaign at the championship, with both teams showcasing their attacking depth and ability to turn early momentum into decisive results.
