The opposition CPI(M) on Saturday alleged that the removal of IAS officer Divya S Iyer as Managing Director of the Vizhinjam International Seaport was influenced by corporate interests linked to the Adani Group , and demanded an explanation from Chief Minister V D Satheesan .

Senior CPI(M) leader K K Ragesh claimed in a Facebook post that Iyer was shifted after the change of government despite resisting attempts to alter provisions of the Vizhinjam port concession agreement , and alleged repeated pressure from Adani-linked entities to remove her. He said she was replaced by an officer with no port administration experience and was later posted to the LSGD Department .

Ragesh also raised concerns over a proposed 49% stake transfer in Adani Vizhinjam Port Pvt Ltd to Switzerland-based MSC , alleging it could financially benefit Adani and questioning whether the state was safeguarding its investment.

He further cited Kerala’s investment of about ₹5,400 crore versus Adani’s ₹2,400 crore , and alleged disproportionate gains from the proposed deal. He also questioned a chartered flight visit by the Chief Minister to Mangaluru and demanded transparency over its purpose and funding.

The CPI(M) leader also flagged concerns over the empowered committee reviewing the proposal, alleging lack of independence as it includes officials under the Chief Minister.

The state government has maintained that no approval has been granted for the stake transfer and that the matter is under review as per the concession agreement.
