CPR Attempt Fails as IAS Officer’s PS Dies After Collapsing at Telangana Assembly
Minister Vakiti Srihari sprang into action after the personal secretary of a senior IAS officer suddenly collapsed on the Assembly premises, administering CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) in an attempt to save his life. However, the official later died despite the emergency response and efforts to revive him.
The deceased was identified as Raju, who was working as the personal secretary to senior IAS officer Navin Mittal. He suddenly collapsed on the Telangana Assembly premises on Tuesday while the Assembly session was underway, triggering an immediate medical emergency.
On noticing Raju collapse, Minister Vakiti Srihari rushed to his aid and performed CPR at the spot. The minister's prompt intervention was aimed at reviving Raju until further medical assistance could be provided. Medical personnel also attended to him, following which he was shifted to a hospital by ambulance.
However, Raju could not be saved. Reports said the attempts to revive him were unsuccessful, and he was declared dead following the medical emergency. The exact cause of his sudden collapse and further details surrounding his death were not immediately available.
The incident occurred amid the ongoing Telangana Assembly session, which has been marked by considerable political activity and disruptions. The sudden collapse of the official's personal secretary briefly shifted attention from the proceedings to the medical emergency within the Assembly premises.
The incident also came against the backdrop of continuing political tensions between the ruling Congress and opposition BRS. Proceedings in the Assembly have been disrupted amid a dispute over alleged remarks made by a BRS legislator against Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar, along with allegations of police misconduct during a protest involving BRS women legislators.
Raju's death has cast a sombre shadow over the Assembly premises. Minister Srihari's immediate response and CPR attempt highlighted the urgency of the situation, but despite the efforts made at the scene and subsequent medical intervention, the official could not be revived.
The incident has added a tragic dimension to an already politically charged Assembly session, with the focus turning briefly to the loss of a government official inside the legislature premises.
