The Telangana government is preparing a comprehensive strategy to tackle worsening traffic congestion and improve road safety across Hyderabad and the Outer Ring Road (ORR) region.

State Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju, acting on the directions of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, held a high-level review at the Dr B.R. Ambedkar Telangana State Secretariat on Thursday to examine measures aimed at strengthening traffic management and reducing road accidents.

Officials were asked to improve the traffic signalling network across Hyderabad, the ORR corridor and other major urban centres in the state, including district headquarters, municipalities and towns. Special attention will be given to identifying accident-prone stretches and introducing safety measures based on local requirements.

The review also underlined the importance of ensuring that ambulances and other emergency vehicles can move without unnecessary delays through congested areas.

Calling for closer coordination between departments, Jaju said agencies responsible for municipal administration, policing, transport and roads infrastructure must work together on a unified road safety plan. He directed officials to prepare a detailed DPR at the earliest.

The government is also pushing for faster implementation of new traffic signalling infrastructure, with the aim of completing installations in identified locations by November and December.

The meeting was attended by DGP C.V. Anand, Special Chief Secretary Vikas Raj, Transport Commissioner Ilambarithi, Malkajgiri Municipal Commissioner Vinay Krishna Reddy, Hyderabad City Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar, along with other senior officials.
