CUET-UG Glitch Prompts Re-Exam, NTA Schedules Fresh Test on June 6 and 7

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced that the CUET-UG 2026 examination affected by a technical glitch on May 30 will be reconducted on June 6 and 7 , providing relief to thousands of students whose tests were disrupted.

The agency has also released updated admit cards for all affected candidates. Students can download their revised hall tickets through the official CUET portal and appear for the examination on the newly scheduled dates.

The decision comes after a major technical failure delayed the commencement of Shift 1 of the examination on May 30. According to the NTA, 3,765 candidates who left their examination centres following the disruption will be given a one-time opportunity to retake the test.

In a statement, the agency said that revised admit cards are now available and urged candidates to check their examination details carefully before appearing for the re-examination .

The incident has once again drawn attention to the operational challenges surrounding the Common University Entrance Test (CUET-UG) , one of India's largest entrance examinations. Conducted by the NTA, the examination serves as a common gateway for admissions to undergraduate programmes in central universities , several state universities , and a growing number of private institutions across the country.

Since its launch in 2022 , the examination has witnessed a series of logistical and technical hurdles. Students in different years have reported issues ranging from last-minute changes in examination centres and delays in entry procedures to server outages and login-related problems during the test.

The NTA shifted CUET-UG entirely to the computer-based test (CBT) mode from the 2025 cycle , arguing that the move would improve standardisation , efficiency , and nationwide exam management. However, the latest disruption has renewed concerns about the robustness of the technological infrastructure supporting one of the country's most important admission tests.

For the affected students, the announcement of fresh examination dates offers another chance to compete without being disadvantaged by circumstances beyond their control. As the re-examination approaches, attention will now be on the NTA's ability to ensure a smooth and glitch-free conduct of the test.
