Dasara Rush Triggers Long Queues at Panthangi Toll Plaza

The Dasara holiday rush has intensified traffic on the Hyderabad–Vijayawada National Highway, with vehicles heading towards Andhra Pradesh facing long queues at the Panthangi Toll Plaza in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district on Saturday.

The toll plaza witnessed a heavy influx of vehicles as people left Hyderabad for their hometowns to celebrate the festival with their families. The growing rush slowed traffic towards Vijayawada, leaving motorists stranded in queues and causing delays for those travelling to Andhra Pradesh.

The situation was further aggravated by ongoing flyover construction work in Choutuppal town, which has disrupted traffic movement, particularly on the service road. With vehicles struggling to move smoothly through the stretch, the combination of festival traffic and construction-related bottlenecks added to commuters’ difficulties.

Authorities responded by diverting vehicles through alternative routes to ease congestion and regulate traffic flow. However, the increased number of vehicles on the highway continued to pose challenges for motorists travelling out of Hyderabad ahead of the festive celebrations.

The Hyderabad–Vijayawada National Highway is a major transport corridor connecting Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Traffic volumes on the route typically rise during major festivals and extended holidays, when thousands of people travel between the two states.

Motorists have been advised to plan their journeys in advance, remain alert to traffic diversions and follow instructions issued by officials. Travellers heading towards Vijayawada and other destinations in Andhra Pradesh may need to allow additional time for their journeys, particularly while passing through the Panthangi toll plaza and Choutuppal stretch.
