Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Wednesday distributed financial assistance to 15,700 children of construction workers at Thyagraj Stadium, marking the first anniversary of the BJP government in Delhi.

Addressing the gathering, Gupta said a corpus of ₹12 crore would be disbursed to support the education of children from economically vulnerable families, many of whom come from migrant labour households living in informal settlements across the city. She said the initiative was aimed at improving educational access for children whose parents are engaged in daily-wage construction work and often lack stable income and social security.

The Chief Minister highlighted welfare initiatives launched by her government over the past year, including ‘Palna’, a creche scheme for children of working women, and Atal Canteens that provide meals at ₹5. She also said Delhi was the first state to adopt the Centre’s four Labour Codes to safeguard workers’ interests.

Gupta said over two lakh workers are registered with the Delhi Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board and assured that the entire ₹5,400 crore corpus with the board would be utilised for the welfare of workers and their families.
