Delhi Police Debunks Viral 'Army Bus' Crash Claim, Says Incident Involved BSF Bus and Van

A viral social media claim alleging that an Army bus was speeding on the wrong side before crashing into multiple vehicles near Rajendra Nagar Chowk in central Delhi is misleading, Delhi Police said on Tuesday. Officials clarified that the incident involved a Border Security Force (BSF) bus and a van in a minor collision, not a major accident as claimed in widely shared posts.

According to police, a PCR call about a road accident was received at Rajender Nagar Police Station at around 3.30 pm. A police team reached the spot and found that the collision had taken place near the Chanakyapuri turn, close to the Mandir Marg roundabout, while both vehicles were negotiating a turn.

Police said the BSF bus and the van sustained only minor damage. The van driver suffered minor injuries and was shifted to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital by a PCR vehicle for medical examination. No other person was injured in the incident.

Officials also clarified that the vehicle involved belonged to the BSF, a central armed police force under the Ministry of Home Affairs, and not the Indian Army. They said there was no evidence that the bus crossed the road divider, drove on the wrong side, or rammed several vehicles as claimed in viral videos and messages.

Delhi Police urged the public not to circulate unverified social media posts, warning that such misinformation can create unnecessary panic. The force said the viral claims do not reflect the actual sequence of events and appealed to people to rely only on official updates.

Police added that an inquiry into the collision is underway. Further legal action, if required, will depend on any complaint received and the findings of the investigation. As of Tuesday evening, no fresh developments or additional injuries had been reported.
