Delhi experienced relatively cooler morning conditions on Sunday, with the minimum temperature settling at 26.2 degrees Celsius , which was 1.8 degrees below the seasonal average , according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The weather department forecast a partly cloudy sky accompanied by the possibility of thunder and lightning during the day, indicating the continuation of fluctuating pre-monsoon weather conditions in the national capital. The maximum temperature is expected to reach around 37 degrees Celsius , remaining within the typical range for mid-June.

The below-normal minimum temperature reflects a recent trend of intermittent cloud cover and localized weather activity that has moderated early morning heat levels. However, daytime temperatures are expected to remain high, maintaining warm and humid conditions across the city. Relative humidity was recorded at 61 per cent at 8:30 am , contributing to a muggy atmosphere despite the cooler start to the day.

Meanwhile, Delhi's air quality remained in the ‘moderate’ category , with the Air Quality Index (AQI) recorded at 143 at 9 am, according to data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).

An AQI reading between 101 and 200 falls under the moderate category, indicating acceptable air quality for most residents, although sensitive individuals may experience minor respiratory discomfort during prolonged outdoor exposure.

Delhi has witnessed periodic fluctuations in air quality in recent weeks, influenced by changing weather conditions, wind patterns and local pollutant concentrations. The possibility of thunderstorms and stronger winds could provide temporary relief by dispersing airborne pollutants, though sustained improvement will depend on broader meteorological conditions.

Authorities continue to monitor both weather developments and pollution levels as the city moves closer to the onset of the monsoon season.
