Direct Flights Between New Delhi and Brazil to Launch Soon
India and Brazil are moving toward a new phase of cooperation with plans to launch a direct flight between New Delhi and Brazil , a move expected to significantly enhance connectivity and economic engagement. According to ApexBrasil President Jorge Viana , the route may include a stopover in Johannesburg , improving accessibility for business travelers and tourists. He described President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s recent visit to India as delivering extraordinary outcomes , strengthening bilateral relations and accelerating trade partnerships and investments between the two emerging economies.
The proposed air link comes amid efforts to expand India–Brazil trade and strengthen cooperation in sectors such as critical minerals , manufacturing , energy transition , and artificial intelligence . The India–Brazil Business Forum drew over 300 Brazilian entrepreneurs and around 600 Indian representatives , reflecting rising commercial interest. To deepen engagement, ApexBrasil plans to open an office in the capital and facilitate market access for Brazilian goods. Products such as cashew nuts , açaí , and citrus items will soon be available in major retail chains across New Delhi and Mumbai, marking a new step in consumer-level trade integration.
High-level discussions between President Lula and Indian industry leaders, coordinated with Natarajan Chandrasekaran , underscored growing industrial cooperation. Following the Tata Group’s acquisition linked to Iveco , the company is expected to invest hundreds of millions of dollars to expand vehicle manufacturing in Brazil, where Iveco’s operations are valued at about $1 billion. Beyond automobiles, both countries are exploring collaboration in advanced manufacturing, innovation ecosystems, and digital technologies, signaling a shift toward high-value industrial partnerships.
Brazil is also seeking to broaden agricultural trade while improving market access for Indian produce, promoting more balanced food supply chains. Viana emphasized that Brazil offers legal security , economic stability , and investor-friendly policies, making it an attractive destination for global capital. He expressed confidence that continued political dialogue and institutional cooperation will produce tangible results in the coming years.
Brazil’s trade and investment promotion agency ApexBrasil continues to play a vital role in expanding exports, connecting businesses with global markets, and attracting foreign investment. The planned air service, combined with expanding trade links and industrial collaboration, reflects a strengthening strategic partnership between the two nations. With improved connectivity, stronger supply chains, and growing cooperation across technology and sustainability sectors, India–Brazil relations are poised for a transformative period of economic integration and shared global ambition.
