Disqualification Cloud Over Kadium Srihari as Speaker Takes Up Hearing Today

Telangana Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar is scheduled to hear the disqualification petition filed against Station Ghanpur MLA Kadium Srihari on Wednesday. The proceedings will commence at 11 a.m. at the Speaker’s office.

The petitioner, MLA Vivekananda Goud , will appear in person and present his arguments, alleging that Kadium Srihari had violated anti-defection norms by switching allegiance. The Speaker is expected to closely examine the evidence submitted in connection with the alleged defection. The hearing has drawn significant attention in political circles.

Political activity in Telangana has intensified in recent weeks amid issues related to municipal elections, phone-tapping allegations, and disqualification proceedings against MLAs. Disqualification petitions were filed against ten BRS MLAs who joined the Congress, of whom the Speaker has already given a clean chit to seven. Hearings are currently underway regarding the explanations submitted by the remaining three MLAs.

Meanwhile, Khairatabad MLA Danam Nagender has submitted an affidavit to the Speaker rejecting defection allegations, asserting that he continues to remain with the BRS and that his participation in a Congress meeting was a personal matter.
