Novak Djokovic added yet another remarkable milestone to his glittering career by equalling Roger Federer's record of 105 men's singles match victories at Wimbledon , defeating France's Arthur Rinderknech in a gripping four set contest to reach the fourth round of the Championships.

The 24 time Grand Slam champion prevailed 7-5, 6-4, 1-6, 7-6 (7-4) on Centre Court after more than three hours of intense tennis. The victory keeps Djokovic's quest for a record equalling eighth Wimbledon singles title firmly on track while placing him alongside Federer as the most successful men's singles player in terms of match wins at the All England Club. Overall, Martina Navratilova still holds the tournament record with 120 singles victories .

Djokovic admitted after the match that he felt more pressure than usual, expecting a difficult battle against the big serving Frenchman. After taking a comfortable two set lead, the Serbian surprisingly lost the third set in just 18 minutes. However, he quickly regained his composure and produced his best tennis when it mattered most, firing back to back aces in the fourth set tiebreak before sealing victory with a superb backhand volley.

The final point came after Rinderknech slipped near the net, prompting a smiling Djokovic to later reveal he silently hoped his opponent would "stay down" long enough for him to finish the point. He also described matching Federer's record as a "huge honour and privilege" before jokingly proposing a contest between the two legends for a symbolic 106th Wimbledon win .

Djokovic will next face Russian qualifier Roman Safiullin in the fourth round , scheduled for July 5 or July 6 , depending on the official order of play. Safiullin reached the last 16 with a commanding 6-3, 6-3, 6-3 victory over Brazil's João Fonseca , continuing his impressive comeback after recovering from a serious knee injury. Meanwhile, defending champion Jannik Sinner also advanced comfortably, defeating Jenson Brooksby 6-4, 6-3, 6-4 to stay in contention for the Wimbledon crown.
