Dulquer Salmaan’s ‘I’m Game’ Postponed, To Release On Sept 3

Dulquer Salmaan’s much-awaited action thriller ‘I’m Game’ will no longer arrive in theatres on August 20. The film has been postponed and will now hit cinemas worldwide on September 3, 2026, with the makers promising a bigger theatrical release across markets.

Dulquer announced the new date on social media on Thursday, apologising to fans who had been waiting for the film. He said the delay was made to give I’m Game a “larger vision” and a wider theatrical platform.

“The game gets bigger. The release gets wider,” Dulquer said while announcing the new date. He added that the wait would be a little longer, but the film would now get the scale and reach it deserves.

The shift also means I’m Game is moving out of the Onam release race. The film was earlier positioned as an Onam release on August 20, alongside other major Malayalam titles including Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Khalifa and Nivin Pauly’s Bethlehem Kudumba Unit.

The film will release simultaneously in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Kannada, giving Dulquer’s latest outing a pan-India push. The five-language release was already part of the original theatrical plan, but the makers are now looking to give the film a wider reach.

Directed by Nahas Hidhayath of ‘RDX’ fame, I’m Game marks Dulquer’s return to Malayalam cinema after 2023’s King of Kotha. The film follows Dan John, a carefree gambler who uses an algorithm to make money through betting. His winning system eventually starts falling apart, sending him into a dangerous situation.

The film has a strong ensemble cast, including Antony Varghese, Mysskin, Kayadu Lohar, Kathir, Samyuktha Viswanathan, Vinay Forrt and Parth Tiwari. Mysskin, the Tamil filmmaker and actor, is making his Malayalam acting debut with the film.

Behind the camera, I’m Game brings together cinematographer Jimshi Khalid, editor Chaman Chacko and composer Jakes Bejoy. Action choreography is handled by the Anbariv masters. The screenplay has been written by Bilal Moidu, Ismail Aboobacker and Nahas Hidhayath, while Shahabas Rasheed and Aadarsh Sukumaran have penned the dialogues.

The film was shot over an extended schedule, with Dulquer previously revealing that the production involved 156 days of filming. The actor had described the experience as one of the most demanding yet fulfilling projects for his team.
